Abia Green is a suite of two civic technology systems β a smart electric transport platform and an environmental intelligence system β built by students and teachers at Ibeku High School, Umuahia.
Two separate crises β one above ground, one on the ground. A transport system that needed a digital brain. An environment that needed a watchdog. We built both.
The Abia Green Shuttle launched December 2025 β 20 electric buses, real routes, real fares. But without a digital layer, passengers have no real-time visibility into the service they depend on daily.
Illegal dump sites multiply. ASEPA crews operate without live data. Citizens have no channel to report hazards. The result: slow response, low accountability, and streets that stay dirty.
Abia's tree canopy disappears without oversight. No dashboard, no alert system, no community reporting. Deforestation accelerates erosion and flooding β and no one is watching.
Communities face displacement annually. Remediation funds are allocated β but without a tracking system, there is no public accountability on whether the work ever gets done.
Each platform solves a distinct problem, serves a distinct audience, and connects to a distinct arm of government. Together they form the complete Abia Green vision.
The digital intelligence layer for Abia State's electric bus fleet β live tracking, smart payments, and route management for 20 buses and thousands of daily commuters.
A civic data and reporting platform for waste management, forest monitoring, erosion tracking, and ecological intelligence β connecting citizens to the authorities who can act.
The Abia Green unified homepage will serve as the public-facing portal β government officials, journalists, and citizens land here first, then navigate to whichever platform they need. A shared authentication layer will allow administrators to log in once and access both systems from a single dashboard.
Both platforms share the same engineering foundation β which means half the infrastructure cost and a single team that can maintain both systems simultaneously.
Server-side rendered React for both platforms β shared component library, shared design tokens, shared deployment pipeline.
Shared database cluster with separate collections per platform. Redis cache layer for real-time event data across both systems.
Single Express API with platform-namespaced routes. JWT authentication shared across both platforms with role-based permissions.
One WebSocket server feeds live bus telemetry to the shuttle platform and live hazard reports to the environmental platform simultaneously.
A single Flutter application with a transport module and an environmental module β one download, two purposes, offline-capable throughout.
Shared map infrastructure renders bus routes for the shuttle platform and waste/erosion/forest overlays for the environmental platform.
Morning Stack ICT Club builds both platforms in parallel β the same phase structure, the same team, the same timeline.

We invite the Abia State Government β under Governor Alex Otti β to formally adopt both Abia Green platforms as part of its Smart Abia digital infrastructure initiative. We are ready to work with the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Environment, ASEPA, and the Ministry of Science & Technology to deploy these as live civic systems.
We propose a formal collaboration between the Abia State Government and Morning Stack ICT Club at Ibeku High School. Our students are the developers, designers, and engineers who will build and maintain both platforms β growing them phase by phase alongside their education. This would make Abia a national model for youth-led civic technology.
A cleaner, safer, more liveable Abia State β for every resident, in every LGA, regardless of income or location. Clean buses that arrive on time. Illegal dumps that get cleared within days. Forests that are watched and protected. Gullies that are tracked and repaired. This is what both platforms, working together, make possible.
We have the architecture. We have the roadmap. We have the team. We need the government's partnership to give these platforms the mandate, the data access, and the reach they need to serve all of Abia.
